...currently seem to clash.
I fear it might be hard for the latter to develop the national appeal that this event deserves if the fleets in the South West are required to give up a full weeks racing close to home for a day in the Solent.
Even as a Hamble based sailor* I would probably head west. Is 20th August set in stone?
*I have not actually bought a mini-tonner yet so don't give too much creedence to my comments.

Yes, unfortunately this is true - but it's practically impossible to avoid clashing with something. Last year the ISC got the us off the ground with our own Regatta day and we realistically had a choice of two dates. We decided at the end of that VERY successful day that the best thing was to the same again for 2011 and try to make that weekend in August work for us as a class each year.... If it becomes a problem then I'm happy to look at other options - but for now lets concentrate on getting at least twice the number of boats to the ISC for August 2011!

So many clubs having their regattas in the summer season, something was bound to clash with the cup.
The Solent must be the busiest place to find a space for a regatta, and I would like to thank te people who got the Miniton cup back in place last year, and the Island for hosting it. As said elsewhere, an excellent review in Y&Y at the moment. As moving this is likely to be tricky, going on near impossible, lets keep this as is.
I know people who have done Torbay before ( not in mnitonners ) and have thouroughly enjoyed it, so persuading peole to go further east will be a challenge.
We have plenty of other regattas in the SW as well, and I'm starting the e-mail chain to see if I can contact people to what support we can get, and for which events.
