Hi There
I still have the brochure for the Sunshine SK 22, picked up at the Southampton boat show, probably in 1981.
She was designed by Scott Kaufman for Reg White (Olympic Tornado gold medal winner), theres a mention of the prototype "The Sunshine Boys" in Bob Fishers obituary o Reg in the current isue of Y&Y.
The production boats were built by Starberry Ltd of Ipswich, I believe there was a connection with Austin Farrar Sailmakers. No idea how may were built, at a guess not many, the boat show boat was a cold moulded version and looked very well built iirc.
They offered 3 options at the time, FRP/Foam sandwich hull/deck, FRP/Foam Hull & ply deck or cold moulded hull/ply deck. Prices ex vat back then were £6450, £6550 & £6950 - that included all deck gear, intereior fit-out, outboard, rig, main/No2, cradle etc. The double spreader & runners rig was another £450.
She was a very pretty boat - more like a miniature racing yacht of the era than the blown up dinghy style, would love to trcak one down or own TSB herself however I wonder if the cold moulded boat show boat may actualy have been the plug, finished and fitted out and that these 2 were the only ones built.
Somewhere in the attic I've probably still got the Seahorses from that time, including the Mini Ton Cup from 1980 so will see what else I can find out, in the meantime I could scan the brochure and mail it or perhaps put it up on here if there's a facility to do so.
