Seems a shame to let this forum effectively die. Participation is the lifeblood of any forum and judging from the amount of people reading and looking at threads there is a fair bit of interest. If those lurking and opening threads to read them would get involved it would make this great resource for all those who sail mini tonners an even better place. Clearly it was quite busy at one stage, have the boats disappeared,? I doubt it. I know people sell boats and move on to other things but new people come along and replace them. Come on, anyone with a mini ton interest please tell us about your boats, ask questions, post pictures, look for advice ........................whatever.

Hi Eyore,
I have an interesting question for people to ponder.... i have just acquired a Limbo 6.6..... she is called Vigilante' i got her from Cumbria, was just wondering if anyone knows of her history.....I have now got her down to Hoylake ( Wirral ) where i intend to sail her on the River Dee. Not sure of the hull number though, the Genoa has GBR 1214 on it, but as only 130 were ever built not sure how the number corresponds to the boat.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Andy

Hi Andy, I imagine someone will recognise the boat, but my suggestion is to follow up on the GBR 1214 sail number as that's a racing number issued by the RYA at some time and would not necessarily have any relationship to the hull build number. Contact the RYA and see when they last issued a handicap for it and if it does relate to the boat.

Alot of people who were involved in the board years ago have moved on, Matt who originally set the class back up had to give up and although someone did volunteer to take overthe running of the class & site they dont seem to had much support even though they were willing to do it from abroad.

I appreciate people move on but someone else will generally buy the boats and they are interested. It just confuses me that so many people view posts, yet they wont get involved in the threads...........................why not?

Probably no interest in racing or no interst in racing with other fleets or outside their own club scence. We have a large fleet of one design minis in our club, they have no interest in racing outside their own one design fleet or even leaving club waters so its hard to get interaction when you have that mentality

Hmmm, Eyeore, I agree with you but it is a bit frustrating if you can't update boat details when they change hands. I have commented on this before. It just makes the class seem moribund. So, I have tried updating once more. Fingers crossed.

I did a search on that sail number and came up with the name and number of someone from the Royal Gourock Yacht Club on the banks of the Clyde.

Richard is alive and well in Germany and still ready/willing to help where possible. Despite repeatedly lying to the forum about when my boat may be sailable, 2017 now appears realistic as I am now a pensioner and so have more time on my hands than before. We may have to accept that the website may in the future have to be paid for by the membership.......
I echo the call to say what is the status of YOUR boat so all enthusiasm can be properly channelled. regards to all around the globe from germany

Hi Martin, thank you for your input, i picked the boat up from Cumbria, and am trying to piece together her history, also not sure as to why one of her previous owners was giving her away ? Thanks. Andy

Hi everyone I bought a SK700 Stephen Jones minitonner in the Netherlands with sailing number NED534 at the end of the 2015 season. It is very much fun to sail this boat with different wheater types. Hope to find some Tips & Tricks on this forum to optimize the boat in coming years.
