Can anyone advise on a size for a general purpose spinnaker for my Glass Onion Evolution 22, was wondering if I could maybe pick up a second hand J24 one would it fit? Better still if anyone knows the correct dimensions. Thanks.

I have a 30sq/m kite on my mini, slightly bigger then a glass onion.

Thanks Neris, being rare and "obsolete" boats its not easy to glean information on things like that.

They are generally smaller then a j24 so a j kite may be to big. My original kite was 25 sq/m i just upped the size for irc

Just an update, decided in the end to splash out and by a new spinnaker from Crusader sails who I have dealt with for more than 20 years on various boats. This is the first racing sail though and I am more than happy with the finished product. I asked for a general purpose tri radial as opposed to a specific reaching or running sail.

Just got the IRC cert yesterday .812 which is better than I expected ,especially as the ECHO is .840 .Sounds competitive, so we will see.

You should do the icra champs next year, good chance of a class win with that rating

Id like to do it but had trouble getting good reliable crew last 2 years and then had intended to change the keel rig and rudder last winter so stripped the boat down and over the last few months havent been near it so debating if i just put it back as was or try go ahead with the mods. Problem putting it back as wAs is the rig has runners & checks and the boats very light. The new keel i have is about 150kg heavier and rig would be much simpler.

A simple single swept back spreader rig is so much easier and lowers the IRC rating . Mods are fun, have you got another mast or can you modify the current one?

Ive a swept back rig off a 1/4 tonner but its to big so needs cutting down a little and a bit of work. The ior rig is too light and not really suitable to be altered.
