i am thinking about getting a mini tonner i want somthing cheap that will go on a shallow line mooring
I am thinking about buying an eboat or a limbo 6.6 im not quite sure what one i like the look of the limbo the cabin looks good and the cokpit is laid out well giving lots of room for crew but i belive the eboat is a bit quicker and better in heaver weather and more seaworthy
what are all your thoughts having sailed them
my dad owns a gk 24 so i need somthing that can keep up with him really or overtake him
Thanks Brendan

I think there was one in cork in the last decade bity I dont know of any others in Ireland. There are a fair few eboats in clontarf as far as I know. Ive had the Limbo out in force 5/6 and she is a bit clunky upwind but she flies on a run especially with waves to surf and can do similar on a broad reach. She is a doddle to handle single handed except hoisting a spinnaker might cause some bother. The Limbo is also not a mast head but ( i think) 7/8 ths fractional. So you can tune her more with mast bend. I haven't perfected that yet. If you worry about the boom gybing Im about 5'11 and it clears well over my head. Ive never sailed a GK 24 westerly-owners.co.uk/westerlywiki/index.php?title=GK24I reckon much hardier and more comfortable in heavy weather or for cruising. check out how they fit on a trailer though the Limbo is two feet shorter but can fairly much match it for pace as iot is half the displacement sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=5054They are a bit spartan though . you can really only stand in the open hatch. the e boat is shorter again - but only by four inches! sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=364and it has a longer waterline! but is a heavier boat with a lighter keel. Oh and the Limbo has lifting keel or fixed fin. The swing keel would be handy for drying moorings or creek crawling. If you are going to winter in canals check out how easy the mast comes down and how easy to trailer. Mine takes about 1/2 hour single handed. Four people could demast her in five mins if you had her on the trailer and one of them could use the winch to lower it. If you want to winter in the canal system check out
