Recently I was sent this info....very interesting stuff....
Sir;
I would appreciate your help please. I have tried to leave a message on the mini-tonner forum, but it would seem with no success. I am trying to contact Mr Mathis H Thorrisen, the owner of the mini-tonner 'Spurven' (NOR3538).
This boat is to the Bruce Kelly design 'Fish 'n Chips', a development of his design 'Mr Bill's Dog'---the design that won the 1980 Mini-Ton cup in Edinburgh. At that time I was living in Edinburgh, and as a member of The Royal Forth Yacht Club, was involved in the running of the races.
Having known Julian Everitt for a number of years (I sailed on his 1/2 tonner Strawberry Fields and helped build Esoteric, the prototype of the 'E Boat' class) , I ended up as his 'gopher' for all the Julian Everitt designs entered (4). During and after the championship I got to know Bruce kelly and his wife Colette quite well, to the point that Bruce sent me preliminary drawings for both his proposed 1/2 tonner and 'Fish 'n Chips' in the hope that we could sell the designs in this country--unfortunately, we had no takers!!
If Mr Thorrisen would like to contact me-- I will happily pass the drawings on to him. If you could contact him and pass my e-mail address onto him I would be most grateful.
I subsequantly ended up as the agent for Seahorse Sails for the east coast of Scotland and had a great deal of pleasure sailing mini-ton sized boats (especially the E-Boats, sailed on most of the fleet on the River Forth).
Thank you for any help that you can give me, I look forward to hearing from Mr Thorrisen (or the current owner of Spurven if he has sold her).
Regards
Thomas P Montagu
(I have kept Thomas's contact email address, should anybody wish to contact him. MA)
