This letter below should be self-explanatory and I would encourage you all to take a moment and read it and complete the survey (If we don't speak up and be heard - then we can't really moan!)
Personally speaking, I found a woefully inadequate cruiser PY system a good enough incentive to start up this class! So, positive action has helped and many of you have signed up to IRC as a direct result. I am aware that the Category 4 requirements and the 'high' lower cutoff for IRC still effectively excludes us from entering many events - but these issues can be resolved given time and weight of numbers racing.
I see the ISCRS option at the MTC each year as being a super opportunity for people to get involved in Mini Tonner racing, without the cost of an IRC rating.
I was surprised at how many of you have IRC rated how few entered ISCRS. That said, lots of boats enter the RTI largely because of the free handicap which gives them a decent platform to race on - so I suspect there may be more who might join us - if we can encourage them along for the event.
Don't be put off by the small box for comments on the survey - you can fit loads of text into it!!!

Dear Sir / Madam
At the recent GBR IRC meeting the subject of encouraging people into IRC was discussed.
Our immediate conclusion is that before taking action we need to try and find out more about why more owners do not take up IRC.
It is no secret that the Rating Office fully supports PY and local handicap systems to encourage people into the sport; however we are interested in why more people do not then progress into IRC. The information in these questionnaires is intended for our information; it is NOT intended to bombard people with a 'hard sell', but if you include your name and contact we may wish to answer any specific comments or address false perceptions.
We have therefore put together two brief questionnaires on our website, one aimed at owners and the second at clubs.
Direct links to the questionnaires are:

We would appreciate your help in completing the relevant questionnaire, thank you. It would also be really helpful if clubs could forward the Owners' questionnaire link to members, or post it on your website?
Kind regards
