Can any Fox terrier owners out there help me. I'm trying to work out the hull number and build year of my Fox terrier. There is a little serial number on a plate inside the boat on a mini bulkhead under the cockpit floor. The last two digits are 79. Is this likely to be build year? I'll post the whole number on here tomorrow after I've been to the boat. Also. Does anyone know what year Copland built the first Fox terrier? The oldest one I can find reference to in the tinterpipe is 1977. Does that sound about right? Any useful information gratefully received! Whoever thought getting all the information for an IRC certificate would be such a pain!!

It's worth contacting RORC to see if the boat has had a previous rating, if so they will have all the details in theirt archive - they did for my boat after years of not racing.

I don't think the boat can have a previous rating as it has not had a GBR sail number up til now.

which terrier do you have? I think that you are correct that the 79 will be the year of build, ours (foxtrot) sail number 20 was around the same time. I will have a look at our build plate next time i am on the boat.

Thanks Nige. My Fox terrier is sail number 18, but I can't be sure if that is 18th boat out of the mould?? Does seem to tally well with yours though.

i think your boat used to be in plymouth, it was called "Dream on" from what i can remember. I am not sure it the sail numers relate to the build slots, i will ask some questions of the members at the club next week.

Thanks Nige. The boat still is called Dream On. She's been in Poole for a number of years now. I've owned her for about seven years, and another Poole yacht club member owned her for about five years before that. She is a great little boat to cruise and race, and I'd be very interested to hear of any other history about her.

I have finally remembered to loook on the boat for the builders plate! our number is 156179. which i think equates to hull 15, from June 1979. As for your boat she was white when in plymouth, owned by a guy called Mike Blackledge, he went on to be a good sigma 33 sailor in Firestorm. I will ask around at the club on Thursday to get you some more history. Also well done on the RTI, fantastic effort! I have done it a couple of times but that was on an X35 and a J133!

Thanks for that Nige. I'll see if I can work out my hull number.
