I see from another thread that both these dates are on the calendar for 2011. Sadly there is a clash.
The Clarkson Cup is the RSYC leg of the IRC Solent Series whilst the Vice Admirals Cup is hosted by the Royal Corinthian at Cowes.
Personally, I'd probably prefer the VAC whilst I suspect my co-owner, being a member of the Southampton would prefer the Clarkson. What it'll come down to though, is what the Solent based min-tonners do. I strongly feel this ought to be a collective desicion, so far as possible, as both will be well run and interesting regattas but the most important thing is to have as many MTs as possible, especially as if we dont come up with enough we wont be in the VAC anyway.
How do other MT owners feel about this one?

George is correct that i would rather do the Clarkson cup (i'm the co-owner!).
My view is that if we are trying to build a successful racing fleet at the RSYC where with sufficient numbers we would be able to have our own starts etc, it would be a bad idea to abandon one of the clubs major racing events for a competing event.

My thoughts are to go play in the Vice Admirals Cup. Its a bigger event, already with a handful of IOR boats ie the quarter tonners. Plus the class would get more publicity and more people would see that the Mini's are on the comeback. Also the racing area is in the Solent and not in Southampton Water which will give better courses / racing.
Im not taking anything away from the Clarkson Cup at all, I personally think the Vice Admirals Cup would be the way forwards. Plus this puts us more intouch with our sister class the quarters which could lead onto other events in the future.
