Hi all
I am new to this forum and pretty new to sailing (many years spent as a petrolhead). I am looking to get into yachting and the Minitonner looks like a low cost way and also a lot of fun. I have seen a Intro 22 and it looked nice, could any of you advise what I should be paying for a good example of this boat, circa 76 - 79. Cheers

That would be dependant on what kit comes as part of the deal. Can you fresh it out a bit more

From the description it looks like you're considering the yellow-hulled Intro 22 currently listed with Apollo Duck @ £2950 and also on Ebay, now with a starting bid of £1999 having been previously listed at £3950 then reduced to £2950 - is this the one? If so, I believe the owner bought the boat around 18 months / 2 years ago through Boatshed Wales who described her at the time as being in need of TLC. Why do I take such a keen interest in Intro's? 'Cos I have one myself! As a guide, I bought mine via Ebay around 2 years ago and paid £1550. She was professionaly built by A P Farrow in epoxy/plywood and had been in her previous ownership for 18 years. Sail inventory was main, No1 Genoa (both OK but a bit baggy for racing), No3 Genoa (brand new), Working jib (blown out), Storm jib (hardly used) & Spinnaker (still crisp). Engine - 8hp Mercury o/board. Electronics - log, depth, wind, vmg, VHF, autohelm. Also included were a GRP tender with 3hp outboard and a custom-built galvanised, wheeled cradle plus tailored winter cover. She also has a non-standard, cruiser interior - comfy but very much overweight for racing! Being plywood and heavy influences her value. I would strongly advise you to examine the sails very closely since a new main and No1 Genoa will set you back the best part of £2k for laminate sails but less, of course, for Dacron. I hope this real life illustration helps - let me know if I can be of further assistance.
