G'day mini-ton folks,
Based in Sweden without a boat to buy in sight so I'm considering building one instead. Plywood with stitch 'n glue epoxy would be the preferred building-method. The garage would be the boatyard for a year or so. Only thing missing now is building-plans...
As I intend to trailer it around to save on expensive harbor fees, the design must be something with a center board/plate or perhaps even a retractable keel (preferably no bulb as they tend to stick out too much). Interior-wise there are no greater demands that that it sleeps 2 or 3 but that seems more or less standard in this class.
Anyone knows of a good place to get mini-tonner building-plans from?
Regards, Paulster

I dont think anything you build now will be classed as mini. Rule 2 on the miniton site "2. Yachts that were designed/built prior to 1996, and are still within in 'the spirit of the Mini Ton Rule". Norway has a good few minis around and their own mini ton website somewhere online, might be worth a look in norway be easier and less time consuming then building an out of date boat. Edit: Norwegian site. www.birger-sevaldson.no/spurven/index.htm

I believe Van De Stadt Design in the Netherlands still offer building plans for their Sea Mini - one of which we have listed in the Mini Ton Fleet. This design was intended for ply/epoxy construction, either hard chine or cold-moulded and, if memory serves, a lifting keel was an option. Does Rule 2 preclude new builds of recognised Mini Ton designs?

Thanks for the tip on my 'neighbors', the Norwegians. There seem to be quite a few of them over there so I'll pursue that lead further and contact them.
As I want to stick to ply/epoxy, the hard-chine is a requirement. I'll also check with my fellow country men at Van De Stadt Design to see what they may have for me.
I do not care much if the design meets the exact class demands as I'm only looking out for a sailboat to buy or to build in this size and weight class. I just stumbled over the minitonners last weekend and the class seems to contain exactly what I have been looking for last 6 months.
Thanks, both of you!
