Greetings Gentle Folk I am intending to buy a boat for local club racing and the prospect of an occasional jaunt to join "mini ton fun" could easily influence my choice. I will probably need a lift keeler despite the seductive looks of some of the other qualifying vessels. What are the relative merits of "e-boats" and "Limbos"? As an aside does anyone have input on the "Freedom 21"? Advice/information/comment.....welcome. Yours saltily TheGoyle

Hi, Just seen your post. I have recently bought a Limbo and although not raced her too much yet she ticks all the boxes I need. I used to race the same Limbo 10 years ago and what a great fun little boat they are. i cant comment on other Mini tonners being new to the scene. What are you intentions with the boat (racing etc)?

Hi TheGoyle
I just recently (last Sept) purchased a Fox Terrier - I'm on the Bristol Chanel and wanted to avoid the 'on the Bristol Chanel you gotta have a bilge keel' approach. As with the e-boat the Fox Terrier has a flat bottom and the keel lifts all the way into the cabin = Drying out no probs and also good performance with the keel bolted down.
4 berths (aft 2 require flexibility or a dram or few to get into! - fine for the kids!!), cooker and room for a loo (not fitted..... yet).
Only managed a couple of sails last year before I needed to come out of the water due to a dragged mooring. Second sail was a 5 gusting 6 - beating into wind against tide = no probs 3 up.
I'm lucky to have a good trailer with it and it towed easily from Scarborough to South Wales - so with luck I'll be at the MTC next year!..... budget not stretching this year :-(
Good luck on your search!!

Anyone have a copy of the old Limbo Website or know someone who has multiply.com/limboyachtsIs gone from the net. I found tghe photos on it it very usefull in replacing a keel winch In fact the only pictures of my boat on the net ( from before I bought it) were on that site It would be helpfull if anyone can direct me to the admin of that site or to anyonte with a clone copy on the net or on CD/DVD.
