I have recently acquired an Extrovert 22 minitonner which I am working up for racing in the clyde.
I have been in touch with Julian Everitt the Extrovert designer re optimisation, and his strong advice is to move the rig aft.... This puts the cat among the pigeons a little, and though not happening this year, it probably means buying new sails which could be redundant in a year makes no sense.
So for this year we are looking for secondhand sails and re cutting to suit, just to get us on the water and see how she feels.
Have anyone got anything lying around / know of anything - we need a number one and a running kite?
New I = 7.2 (taking the halyard out of the spectacles to raise the hoist point a foot), FL 7.44, J 2.34 (though may move forestay out to bow from current location and push up J to as much as 2.6 (with mast in current location).
This approach may also let us try the boat with a lesser overlap as may be the go if we ever decide to go IRC.
Thanks in advance, all tips / suggestions gratefully received.
