I have received the draft Sailing Instructions over the weekend and that contains a chart/list of the racing marks - I'll try and get them posted up later this week. The courses may well also involve specially laid inflatable marks (for the windward/leewards etc) as these give good racing and lessen the importance of expensive charts! I'm trying to make this as simple, easy and accessible racing for everyone to get involved - experienced or novice alike.....(so, no really long and complicated processional courses!) ******To all you other Mini Tonners - you really need to get your fingers out & get signed up for the event RIGHT NOW !!!!!!! ****** Matt

I'm sorry that Limbo Dancer will not be able to make the MiniTon Cup this year, however the good news (or maybe bad news ) is that it's loving owner will be able to get over to Cowes for the day of the Miniton Cup and will be available to crew for anyone who's shorthanded for the day. If anyone needs and extra pair of hands and a bit of ballast then please let me know. It will be great to meet up with the minitonners even if I can't get my own boat over for the event. Should a bidding war break out, the unit of currency is the "imperial Pint of beer" Looking forward to getting a crewing spot for the day and meeting the "in crowd" I can be contacted on 07900 888296 Martin Beddows "Limbo Dancer"

I've contacted Steve Cole at Cowes yacht haven again. We originally block booked 15 berths, I've explained we will not need them all and individual owners will get in touch with their individual requirements.
Martin - I was going to sail two up, which is fine because I've only got a mini minitonner and it's what we're used to, but if you want to join in, you are more than welcome.

Dear All,
Firstly, we have also received an entry from 'Tiger Rag' (so somebody is flying the Sonata Flag !) Well Done Guys - 9 boats is a respectable number for a first regatta.
Regarding Cowes Yacht Haven berthing - they know we are all coming and I have given Ben the list of entered boats names (so they are expecting us..).
However, we were all rather too late getting our entries in for us to make the group booking more formally - so, you need to make contact directly with the marina to avoid any chance of a problem!
***IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CALL THEM DIRECTLY TO CONFIRM YOU NEED A BERTH and FOR WHICH NIGHTS**** tel: 01983 299975
If you have any problems please give me a call/text on 07950 012977 (Matt).
I will be around the Yacht Haven (The Island sailing Club, or a nearby pub!) from late Friday afternoon and will be happy to see/meet you all over there.
I suggest we could rendezvous informally (give me a call if you want) and try Cowe's Fish and Chips / Curry / or something else...whatever is popular!
To keep things simple, there is no briefing on Saturday morning - but you do need to read the sailing instructions CAREFULLY and ENSURE you are in the right area to find the fleet and the start line.
There will be a round the cans race and also some windward / Leewards (3-5 races depending on weather/time) - so there should be something to suit everybody!
see you over there guys!
Matt

Ant - I'm launching there on the Friday morning tide and leaving the boat in the marina, going across to Cowes for the start. I'll look out for you. I reckon you'll struggle to launch much before 6;30ish on Friday evening if you need to float off, you'll be fine if you're on rollers. Watch out for the end of the slip, it's got a big drop off level with the inner set of railings on the waiting pontoon!

Any chance of a report or the results of the Mini Ton Cup 2010 for those of us who could not be there due to other commitments or distances involved?

It was Brilliant! Loads of wind (and rain) and lots of falling over downwind. Shalot won the Mini Ton Cup and Tiger Rag won the Solent Trophy. I think Matt is waiting for the full results and will post them shortly. The atmosphere in the marina afterwards was great. It's difficult to sum up in a short message, but I'm sure everyone will chip in with their own little story!

It certainly was brilliant! ;D So good in fact, that I have already asked the ISC to put us in the diary for the same weekend next year! The Island Sailing Club ran a superb event and I can think of little (other than the weather) that I would want to change. Having said that about the weather - I think there is a certain satisfaction to be had in having survived the day's racing - still smiling, in what were properly strong winds all day.... Hopefully, many more boats can and will join in the fun next year. There are pros anc cons to any dates - but that weekend (around 20th August) seemed genarally to have a good reaction. I would welcome any comments or feedback. I am awaiting some pictures (hopefully), meanwhile the results are posted at: www.islandsc.org.uk/results.aspxMatt

Thanks for posting the pictures, looks like all those involved enjoyed themselves. Sorry I could not make it myself due to family commitments.
