did you manage to make contact with roger? If that no. Is dead you can probably contact him through the microclass website www.microclass.org he has a gem micro now and you should be able to find him on the forum under the cruiser racer section with any reference to gem's. Hope this helps. Will

Will, Have changed my direction of purchase, SK700 outside my budget, he's looking £5300 without trailer, my limit is £3500 with trailer, c'est la vie.

keep looking greybeard. I think it massively overpriced without a trailer.I've seen plenty go for around £3500 so I'm sure you'll find one if you look hard enough. Roger Buxton is quite a communicative bloke and probably still has a list of other owners. The north Inc Scotland & the south west and Norfolk are most likley to turn up a cheap boat. So long as your prepared to travel to end up with the right boat. Good luck and happy hunting. Will

Greybeard Whats your thoughts on a Limbo 6.6? There is one in the for sale section www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F212883This may be worth a look, especially since we have a nice little Limbo 6.6 fleet buiding within the class.

It's not a design I am familiar with over here, It would appear to rate something similar to a Sonata, which means it must be quick. Do they all have lifting keels or are there some fin keel versions? I gather from theforum that they have a balsa core and this can go soft and give bother, however they do seem to be a favourite boat with the forum and certainly have the biggest representation on the list. I will make some enquiries from the broker and see if there are any more photos of it available. Thanks for the steer in that direction.

Hi - Just joined the forum, currently we have an Etap 22i, but thinking of changing for a Mini Ton eligible boat and looking at options.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of an SK700 called "Emma Peel" She was in Poole for many years, probably from new in early '80s and used to race against her, white with orange stripe.

Looking at an available SK700 as a cruiser-racer (rather than a racer-cruiser) and wondering what their sailing manners are like. I've read that they're "quick" (Great!): "tippy" (which I interpret as tender and likely to broach unless you're quick on the helm/sheets; so not so great); but on the whole: great fun and very rewarding. Are they an out-and-out racer ? Or can they be well-mannered when sailed at a reasonable pace ? Any comments on their sailing characteristics would be appreciated. Many thanks.
