The Royal Southampton Spring Series starts this coming Sunday, 20th March 2011. Unlike the Frostbite series where the classes were split into four with IRC boats raced seperately to those on the simpler RSYC handicap, the spring series will be dual scored. We'll be there on Roughian, looking to build on our 3rd place in the Frostbite and we're very hopeful that Glass Onion and the Sonata Fat Hen will be there too. Hopefully there will be a number of non-mini-tonners which go at a similiar pace such as the Hunter 707 Tigerfeet, a Contessa 26 named Topaz and a GK24 called Forethought. There should, therefore, be plenty of really good close racing, but it'd be fantastic to see a few more mini-tonners out there with us? Sham? Solo? Any more? www.rsyc.org.uk/racing/index.html

I'll try and do a couple of the races in April on high note.

Excellent Olly.
In the meantime, did you get anywhere with the other two HRSC Sonatas? I was disappointed to see Fat Hen has not entered yet.

No reply from fat hen. Tosca will be arriving in the hamble in April and was very interested in mini ton cup. But no word on any earlier mini ton events.

Excellent. Both my helms are away so I may well have a scratch crew but we'll see.
Do you fancy the Nab Tower the day before to make a weekend of it?

I don't think I'll be able to get the crew.

Two wins for Glass Onion yesterday. Two DFLs for Roughian. What a difference a week can make.

Well Glass Onion found a lot more than we did. It was flukey and inconistent and we sailed poorly.

I've just got my SIs through for this sunday, what time does do you usually leave you mooring in Hamble to make the RSYC start?

We normally meet on the pontoon at the Southern at 0800 to be taken out to the boat. That ought to give us enough time to get to the start area, hoist the kite and do a couple of gybes.
I'm sturggling for crew for this weekend, but I am still working on it. Whoever we get will be new to the boat so we wont be pulling up too many trees.
